The Ontario Rural Wastewater Centre has two demonstration sites in Central and Eastern Ontario that are operated in conjuncton with training courses in order to provide a truly hands-on learning experience. Both sites display a wide variety of wastewater treatment technologies including conventional systems, effluent filters, pumps and controls as well as many of the tertiary treatment units approved for use in Ontario. Displays are actively demonstrated using water supplied by an onsite cistern which is recycled back to the cistern after passing through the display units.
The demonstration site in Central Ontario is located just south of Guelph at the University of Guelph Arkell Research Station near the village of Arkell. This demonstration site is open to the public - please contact us to make an appointment for a visit.
The Ottawa demonstration site in Eastern Ontario is at the Baxter Conservation Area located just south of Ottawa near Kars. This site is also open to the public - call 613.692.3571 x 1123 to make an appointment.
